Birding in Fraser’s Hill | 50 good birds to photograph
Fraser’s Hill marked as the genesis of my birding journey to explore the birds of Southeast Asia. Many birders in Singapore and Malaysia would agree that Fraser’s Hill is the “ Early Birding Playground” close to home where books on birds were published, and the annual bird race is conducted. I met many friends and have fond memories of photographing birds and birding in Fraser’s Hill for many years.

In Fraser’s Hill, you can see 15-25 species of birds in the first two hours of daylight. Standing in the misty, cool air before daybreak, waiting for the early birds and bird waves, is an exciting feeling.
I first visited Fraser’s Hill Malaysia in 1995. I photographed from landscapes to plants, insects, and birds. My interest shifted to photographing birds in Fraser’s Hill. I drove 500 kilometers from Singapore a few times to Bona Vista in Fraser’s Hill to escape city life and enjoy the cool mountain air.

I have made about 10 trips to Fraser’s Hill . My trip in 2019 yielded the most birds with Weng Chun. I managed to photograph 50 species of birds in that one trip. In 2004, I witnessed a rare Himalayan Cutia in the Telecom Loop with Sutari and Yong Ding Li.
